Bombardier CRJ-700 Design and History


The Bombardier CRJ-700 first was designed in 1995 and released officially in 1997. Its seating capacity is ranging from 66 to 78.

Bombardier CRJ-700 is moved by two General Electric CF34-8C5 engines. Its power output is 14,510 lbf, with auto power reserve power. With the powerful engine, the CRJ-700 maximum speed is 0.85 Mach (895 km/hour) and maximum altitude is 12,500 metres. CRJ-700 also travels up to 4,660 km. CRJ-700 has a length of 32.51 metres, and wingspan of 223.24 m.

There are three versions of Bombardier CRJ-700. The 700 Series is for 68 passengers. The 701 Series is up to 70 passengers, and the 702 Series is up to 78 passengers.

Not only based on their number of passengers, but also there are three versions based on their fuel capacity. The ER version provides more fuel capacity, in return gives you the maximum travel range compared to the standard version. And the LR version provides more than the ER one. The standard fuel capacity is 9,014 kg.

Bombardier CRJ-700 flight deck is equipped with Engine Indication and Crew Alerting System (EICAS) and Collins Pro Line 4 six-tube EFIS (Electronic Flight and Information System).
CRJ-700 is also armed with Terrain Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) which help pilots to dodge any mountains. Automatic Heading Reference System (AHRS) made by Rockwell is also planted with a HGS 2000 display and guidance system.

The cabin’s length is 21 metres, gives a spacious are for the two pilots, and a width of 2.57 metres, and more than 6 ft 2 inch standing room. Really spacious flight deck and very comfortable.

A total baggage space of 23.33 m2 is available in the under floor baggage and rear baggage compartment. Hella provides its lightning system, and Liebherr supplies the air conditioning system.

Bombardier CRJ-700 is a very tenacious airplane. It is worth you your money, they even claim the CRJ-700 has the lowest trip cost, compared to another 70-seat aircraft.
