Cessna Citation Excel (Citation XLS+) Review: A Legendary Classic

Hello, this is me again and today I am going to write a review about Cessna Citation Excel, or some says Citation XLS+. Cessna had created quite a product, first manufactured in February 1996, and up till now is still in production, quite amazing in my humble opinion. Very interesting right? Keep reading and find out how they have such a successful private airplane in the today-market.

Cessna Citation XLS Manufacturer

The creator and manufacturer of the Citation Excel is Cessna Aircraft Company, a Wichita, Kansas based company. They specialized in small aircraft, but sometimes they also produce business jets. Cessna is a subsidiary of Textron, a US aircraft and helicopters company.

The founder of this great company is Mr. Clyde Cessna, formerly is a farmer in Rago, Kansas. He and Mr. Victor Roos together built Cessna-Roos Aircraft Company in 1927, while in the same year Mr. Roos resigned from the company.

Until now, Cessna aircraft is the most used airplane and the most manufactured aircraft in the world, especially in the US.

The Cessna Citation Excel Overview

Cessna Citation Excel used two Pratt & Whitney PW545 engines to move the plane. With that engine, the Citation XLS can fly up to 1,961 miles, and only need a 3,590 feet lane to takeoff. The airplane can accommodate up to ten persons, and its cabin is very quiet thanks to the triple sealed entry door and triple pane windows. The XLS uses Honeywell Primus 1000 for the glass panel avionics.

Citation Excel can climb up to 41,000 feet directly and the speed is just a bit slower than the Learjet 45A. This aircraft is well known for its fuel-safe. And its baggage space is 90 cubic feet, when its 80 is external. The hefty brakes and big thrust reversers make its landing like in an invisible barrier.
Rest assure for this Cessna, even though it is a 1996 design, but the safety record is quite sensational.

Up till now there are only 6 accidents involving the Cessna Citation Excel, with the Brazilian presidential candidate Eduardo Campos on August 2014 in Sao Paulo. I think it is still a nearly excellent record.

A new Cessna Citation Excel has a price for $12.5 million, while the used one will cost you around $7 million, depending on some factors, like the year production, the mileage, and the modification it has.
